Plastic bags should be banned from our enviorment. One VALID reason is that they cause so much litter on the streets. Not only is it litter but they arer harming animals and ACCESSING their death. There are many other TECHNIQUES that can be used to better our enviorment such as paper bags or reuseable bags you buy at markets. In conclusion, to better our enviorment and to save the animals, we should eliminate plastic bags completely and just offer paper or reuseable bags.

Academic Vocabulary Paragraph Assessment SS2 - Technical Colleges

proficient -sufficient -technical

A TECHINCAL college is right for me. One reason is that I want to be a cosmetologist. A technical college such as Bellus Academy or Paul Mitchell School of Beauty has the SUFFICIENT classes I would need to do what I want to do. Going to a regular college would be a waste of time for me. I don't need to study all those extra classes I just need to be PROFICIENT in beauty and a technical college offers everything I need. In conclusion, a techinal college would be great for me and for what I want to study.

SS1- Schemes

"Get rich fast" SCHEMES do not work. One reason is that they take advantage of people. People are signing up for these things and sometimes even paying money to REGISTER because they think they're going to make money and then get cheated out of everything. The only people that are really successful with these "get rich fast" schemes are the ones that create them. In addition, they're not evenly PROPORTIONED and some people are making more more than others. "Get rich fast" schemes do not work and it is immoral to cheat people out of their money.

Lord of the Flies - Before You Read - Power Struggle

Whenever a group of people live together, there will be a stuggle for power. For example, kids here at spa are living in the same house and there is a constant battle for power. Especially children. Kids want to feel powerful and they want to feel important and they always try to out shine each other. In addition, our society instills with having a president and the way our government is run that power is a huge thing and should be fought for. Kids tend to want power and if they are all living together, they will all be fighting for it.

Portfolio - Improvement

Over the past two years, I haven't improved much. I can honestly say that I haven't tried as hard as I could have. Overall I've gone downhill but in certain subjects I've gotten better such as Writing and my speaking skills. I've become much more social and I can talk in front of people now without being really nervous. I've learned how to build stronger relationships and I've worked on bettering myself as a person. Academically, I definitely could have done better but as an individual I think I've improved a lot. I am going to try a lot harder my last two years of high school and make sure I graduate on time.

Portfolio - My Educational Experiences

 Due to my educational experiences, I am currently behind in school. I have moved around so much in the past 10 years of school that it has made it hard to kep my grades up. I am behind in credits due to missing school while moving around. I have a lot of gaps in different grades because of all the school i have missed and that is making it difficult to stay on top of my grades. Now I am going to have to go to summer school and probably take night classes to catch up and graduate on time. I am lucky because I went to such a good middle school, but unfortunately, middle school grades don't count for college. Now I have to stay on top of my work as much as I can so that I can get caught up and graduate on time.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Obstacle

My biggets obstacle in the past two years of high school was having to come to San Pasqual Academy. It was the beginning of the fourth quarter of freshman year, I was going to Rancho Bernardo High School. I was involved in sports and school activities so leaving all my friends and the activities I loved was the hardest part. Things started to get rough at home around the second semester and eventually my aunt couldn't take care of my sister and I anymore. I missed about a month of school while my social worker was trying to figure out a placement for us so my grades started dropping and it made it hard to get them back up when I got here. I've had to become so much more independent and learn how to do things for myself by coming here. I've learned what true relationships are and that the only person I can truly count on is my sister. I've learned how to advocate for myself and form my own opinions and that's going to help me in life. If I could go back and change anything I definitely would. I would love to do everything over and not try to be so grown up so that I would have never gotten kicked out. This is the time in my life that I need a structured home with a mom and a dad and my stupid decisions put that in jeapordy. As a person I have grown a lot in the past two years and I'm happy I'll be able to take some of that with me.

Personal Changes Blog Paragraph

When I was a freshman I didn't have a clue who I was. I depended on everyone to make my decisions for me and I didn't really have my own opinion. I'm still not happy with where I'm at and who I am but I can say that I'm happier then I was last year. Now I can form my own opinion and advocate for myself. This year I have learned who my true friends are and I've realized the only person that is going to be there in the end is me. My sister and I have gotten so much closer and that's what I'm most happy about. I've had to overcome so much this year with family, school and emotional things and it hasn't been easy at all but I've learned that I can get through pretty much anything. I've started going to church more and I've figured mysef out. Overall, I'm not happy with how this year went but I just have to run with what I've got and keep on going. Hopefully next year is better for me.

Practice paragraph week 35

Sweatshops are a violation of human rights. One reason is that the LABOR is way too hard and dangerous. The working conditions are not safe and could easily kill/injure you. There should be some sort of CONTRACT signed stating that the worker will not get hurt. People don't even get paid more than 5 dollars a day to work there and minimum wage should APPLY to everyone. In conclusion, sweatshops are a violation of peoples human rights and shouldn't be in business

Academic Vocabulary Practice Paragraph Week 29

Global Positioning System (GPS) devices should not be required for habiually truant students. GPS is a helpful ELEMENT to get around, not to track students down. It will make school ADMINISTRATERS feel like they have more power than they do and will cause much confrentation with students. Ditching school is breaking school CONDUCT but there are definnitely much better ways to lessen the rate of truency than putting trackers on children. We are people, not animals pr cars and should not be tracked down by a GPS.

Academic Language Week 25 - Concealed Handguns

Adults should not have the right to carry a concealed hand gun without a permit. A permit will INDICATE whether or not you are liable and responsible enough to carry one. Many criminals could easily carry around a hand gun without having a permit and that would be bad for our society. There should be a law ESTABLISHED in order for an adult to carry a hand gun with many procedures having to be followed. Having a permit should JUSTIFY whether or not you can carry a concealed hand gun.

Online learning is an effective AREA to educate students. Sometimes it may be difficult because you can not CLARIFY your questions with a teacher, but it will also keep you on track. It will save you time and you can work at your own pace and get things done the way you want. Also, more courses are offered online than in school. Therefore, online learning is an effective way of learning.

Practice Paragraph Week 23

Dog fighting should be illegal. One DISTINCT reason is that that it is teaching children that attend them to be POTENTIALLY dangerous in their future. Also, the FORMULA trainers use to train their dogs in harmful and painful. No animal deserves to be treated that way, and it should not be legal to hurt animals. These are all valid reasons for dog fighting to be illegal.

Week 22 Practice Paragraph

Felons should be able to vote. Our constitution is pretty COMPLEX and there are many ways of getting around it but not letting felons vote is against "all men are created equal." What people have done in their past is IRRELEVANT to who they are now and they should not be judged on what has happened before. Being open to voting and having something to do with making a big decision is a good SOURCE of being socially accepted and could influence the decisions they make in the future. I believe felons are equal to everyone else and if they are out of jail/prison, they have obviously proven themselves and are eligable to vote.

Poetry Previous Knowledge Paragraph

When I was in elementary school, I would draw a lot of pictures with my poems and made stories out of them. When I was in middle school, I had the most fun with poetry. I learned different types of poetry like Haiku and Rhyming. I got more advanced with it, and because it was more advanced and I could understand it, it made it much more fun. Outside of school, I didn't do anything with poetry really except write in my journal when I was inspired. I am looking forward to writing more though!

Practice Paragraph Week 21

Performance enhancing drugs such as steroids should not be allowed in sports. The PRIMARY reason is that they are not healthy and could result in the athletes getting sick and not playing at all. TRADITIONALLY, sports are about being natural and keep you fit and healthy and the use of steroids and other performace enhancing drugs are ruining that and making it an unfair game. PERIODICALLY, There are drug tests and if you come up with any type of drug in your system, you could be kicked off the team anyways. In conclusion, to keep the games healthy, fun and safe, steroids and other performance enhancing drugs should not be allowed.

2nd Semester Goals

My goal for second semester is to keep my A's. Last quarter I slacked off way too much and I know I'm going to regret it when I'm stuck in summer school and not having fun at the beach with my friends. I have gotten new school supplies and new ways of keeping organized and I am excited to see how everything works out for me. At the end of the semester, I will know I have achieved my goal by having at least a 3.5 or higher. I am going to focus on school and make that one of my first priorities. I have realized how important school is in today's society and it has motivated me to try harder.

Opinion Statement Brainstorm

I am going to do my report on the walkies because I feel the strongest about this topic and it is what I would want to change most.

Dragons Den: free choice.

This year, 2012, as we all know is most famous for death. I dont believe this isgoing to happen because of  what the bible says. I do think there is going to be a natural disaster causing many people to die but I dont think it's going to make the world end. Studies show that there has been an earthquake meaning to happen for years now and it hasn't so that gives me reason to believe there will be a very larger one thats been building up over the years. There's nothing we can do about it if it does happen but I wont be shocked if I wake up on December 22, 2012 and still be alive.
